video clip, a performance or a photograph, a piece of music
or an installation, a digital experiment or a poem.
Through his
perception of a piece of art each viewer constructs his own
story ".

kunstwerk is de vraag belangrijk óf en in wélke mate een
werk ons confronteert met het onzegbare, het
ondefinieerbare.
Het is dit ongrijpbare karakter van een kunstwerk dat de (meer)waarde
van kunst belichaamt, of het nou gaat om een schilderij of
een videoclip, om een performance of een foto, een
muziekstuk of installatie, een digitaal experiment of een
gedicht.
In de ervaring
ervan maakt iedere beschouwer z’n eigen verhaal".
Paul Smulders paintings are a field of tension of abstract
painted parts in combination with a graphic pattern. The opposition
between abstract and figurative also continues to play. His
works seem to divide up into different levels which, however,
do reinforce one another.
Paul Smulders wants to link his subjective way of painting with objectively
reported images selected from all kind of the media. |
